Amsterdam Salsa is a workshop offering you the chance to Amsterdam Salsamaster the famous Latin American dance that originated in New York. It is heavily influenced by Latin American culture and music, particularly Cuban – it was Cuban immigrants to New York who developed and perfected this intense dance style. Today one of the most popular dance styles in the world. Its movements originate from Son, Cha cha cha, Mambo, and other latin dance forms.
Salsa is also Spanish for spicy sauce. But what is actually the link between them? Well, they say that salsa is the dance of death. Salsa dancers dance with the same fire and intensity of the famous sauce. Legend has it some of the first Salsa dancers surrendered to the fury of the rhythm and danced themselves close to death! This reminded people of the spicy sauce. Although delicious and irresistible, they heat up and often feel like they’re about to “die” because of the spicy taste.
Choose your partner and go heat up the dance floor! Your trainer will let you warm up and guide you through your first steps. Un poco aqui, un poco ahi (a little bit here, a little bit there) and you’re good to go!
