Designed by renowned architect Pierre Cuypers, the mind behind Amsterdam’s iconic Centraal station, the Rijksmuseum houses spellbinding exhibitions on Dutch history!
This spectacular museum houses 8,000 artistic and historical objects that bring to life the story of 800 years of Dutch history, from the year 1200 to the present. Exhibitions vary over time but the Night Watch Gallery and the Gallery of Honour remain permanently open to Rijksmuseum ticket holders.
Some of the museums most popular exhibitions are on the 17th century, 18th century, 19th century, 20th century, middle ages and renaissance, the Asian artefacts pavilion and the special collections gallery. The museum houses a number of artistic works of huge cultural significance to the Netherlands, but none so important to the city of Amsterdam as the famous Night Watch by Rembrandt Van Rijn.
