For hundreds of years, Amsterdam has been the home to revolutionary live art works. Discover, why with our Workshop?
The Amsterdam Live Art Workshop is an unmissable experience for any one interested in art, or the artistic history of Amsterdam
Amsterdam has been synonymous with fine are since the Dutch Golden Age of the 17th century. Although live art had been a developing discipline for many years in The Netherlands, it was Amsterdam’s favourite son, Rembrandt Van Rijn, who revolutionised this art form.
Rembrandt’s most famous works, such as what is perhaps his most brilliant portrait masterpiece, Portrait of Jan Six, are live art pieces. Rembrandt’s portraits are often remembered for their immortalising famous and influential figures from the Dutch Golden Age, typified by one of his most recognisable works, The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp. However Rembrandt was prolific – he painted hundreds of portraits, slowly perfecting techniques which would permanently alter the practices of the artistic world.
At our art drawing class, we will give you a short talk on the history of live art and will show you examples of the different kinds of work, both realist and impressionist, that characterize this fascinating artistic discipline. You will be shown several different techniques, including how to invoke a sense of scale and motion. We will provide painting materials and a model for you to draw, giving you an amazing opportunity to capture the essence of a real art model.
Our instructor is a passionate artist who loves to help others discover their talents – this is the perfect way to celebrate visiting one of the artistic capitals of the world.
